Extractor Hoods

There are lots to choose from but the main styles are, canopy, chimney, integrated, visor and designer the rest are just variations of the ones mentioned. Kitchen extractors either use replaceable paper filters or aluminium filters. There are 2 types of extraction either by ducting directly outside or recirculation, this is where the air is filtered back into the kitchen with the use of charcoal filters.

Canopy Hoods

Canopy hoods are designed to fit neatly on the underside of an over-head kitchen cabinet or into a concealed unit above the hob these are discreet great for the minimalist look.

Chimney Hoods

Chimney hoods are a popular choice in kitchens, the hood is fitted to the wall above the hob and has a tall chimney that usually goes all the way to the ceiling

Integrated Hoods

These hoods are great for people that want the extractor hidden out of the way when not in use. This style is fitted into or between cabinets and usually has a kitchen door on the front so it just looks like another unit.

Visor Hoods

Visor hoods are fitted underneath a kitchen unit above the hob. These are more visible than the integrated hoods and are great for kitchens with less space. These hoods have a glass or plastic visor that extends making the hood bigger which is where the name comes from.

Downdraft Hoods

Downdraft hoods can pop up out of the work top and draw the air back and down as opposed to up. Designed for islands these give a great clean minimalist look.

Designer Hoods

Looking for a real visual impact in your kitchen, designer hoods give you just that. As with all hoods they are designed to extract and remove the smells and the moisture from the kitchen. Designer extractor hoods can be a little more complex to clean but as with all extractor cleaning you should always follow the manufacturers’ instructions and recommendations.
